›What are the emergency helpline numbers for women in India?
Call 112 for police/emergency anywhere in India, 181 for the Women Helpline, 7827170170 for the National Commission for Women, and 1098 for Childline. In immediate danger, call 112 first.
›How do I file a police complaint (FIR) for domestic violence in India?
Visit the nearest police station — any station must register a Zero FIR regardless of jurisdiction — or file online on your state police portal. Women can request a woman officer and give statements from home. Keep a copy with the FIR number. VoiceGuard's Asha chatbot explains each step.
›What protection does the Domestic Violence Act, 2005 give?
The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 covers physical, sexual, verbal/emotional and economic abuse. A Magistrate can grant protection orders, residence orders, monetary relief, child custody orders and compensation. Breach of a protection order is punishable.
›Does VoiceGuard send a real SOS to the police?
No. VoiceGuard is a demonstration build: the SOS button runs a simulation only. No real SMS is sent and emergency services are not contacted. In a real emergency, always call 112 or 181 directly.
›Is my microphone audio uploaded to a server?
No. Audio analysis runs on-device in your browser. Short clips are transcribed via a secure API only when speech is detected, and raw audio is never stored on any server.
